My wife picked up the hub today so it was a bit of a blind purchase. It's both awesome and scary in equal measures. The mag shell is somewhat discoloured but in real life looks kinda cool. I probably won't lace the wheel radially or ride in the wet though!

Yeah that was rad thanks! I just need to keep an eye out for a 28h rear hub and I'll lace up these rims:

If I don't find anything, I'll possibly cheat and buy a Hope Mono 3 silver hub.

So here's a mock up of roughly what the bike might look like. I still need to source a 28h rear hub and suitable 1.8mm spokes for the Syncros front hub. I may have to cut the steerer a bit ha ha..... Some bits like the seat post and old Avocet saddle are functional and close enough period correct for me, but I'll keep half an eye out for better stuff. The Racing Porcs I guess are slightly later re-issues as I can't remember the decals looking like that BITD, but they are hardly used and pretty rad so they'll stay, just maybe not for road riding!

I think I need lessons in how to upload images but anyway something seems to have happened finally!

nice! steel Vertex is rare, and so is that nice Syncros hub you just picked up. i've never seen either in the metal before. ;)

btw, is that that the original fork that goes with frame? and if so, wouldn't it be threaded? i see a threadless Syncros stem attached to it. :?

if your frame takes a 27.0mm, could possibly offer up a silver Syncros post to go with that silver handlebar you already have.

subscribing for updates. 8)

Hi,

I just got the frame and front derailleur in a partial swap for my old Nomad frame, so the original fork is long gone. The fork shown is in fact off a Norco from the same era but I guess it's a generic Spinner fork judging by the stamping / decal (no Norco stickers....). I've also got two Syncros Cattlehead stems so it's sort of ended up going down that route at the moment. That's not to say that it will stay that way

It is 27.0, and a silver Syncros post would be rad. Most of the bike going to be a 'slow burner' with upgrades as and when I get things cheap / free through the shop I work, but I could be tempted to splash a bit of cash on something like this. You are welcome to drop me a PM if you are considering selling.

Soooo.....phase 1 is complete in that it is a rideable bike....and I've been riding it! Phase 2, will be to build the wheels up if I ever find a suitable 28h rear hub, but I'm in no rush. A more minimalist saddle would be nice too!

(School boy error - I replaced the biopace rings with round ones but forgot to drop the front derailleur before taking the photos. The shame.....)

Talk about suicide.....those SE brakes are wicked. I rocked them on my 1991 Hammer back in the day and also on my Kona FM. Lookin good! NOw if I can just get some motivation to finish my Explosif!

Thanks guys. A Flite would be an obvious choice (for me) but I'm not sure that my ass would agree these days. I had a Rolls BITD but I've not seen one for years. I'll see what shows up.

I pulled those SE brakes of my Proflex as they weren't stock anyway. Yep, they are pretty sharp! A cool piece of design, and yes the rims are nice and true!
