To say it was thrown together for the Repack ride without a shakedown, at not one point on that ride did I think I need suspension or better brakes or gears or anything. It absolutely lived up to the dream I had of what it would be like and Dr’s S photo of me in profile perfectly captures the image I’d had in my head for all these years of what it would be like. Thank you Si.

File comment: the quality of these is unbeleavable, especially for 1983. the hubs use sealed 6001 bearings, the rims still had annodising on the brake surface. shown here rebuilt with new spokes. and yes they are absolutely spot on straight.

File comment: the mountech rear mech came in various models, but top left is an arx upon which they were based. the difference of this mech is it doesn't have the extra pivot point BUT uses conventional jockey wheels. even though the mountech i use has a good top pull

File comment: sr adjustable seatpost. bit pointless really as you'll probably just clamp it up, but looks way cool. they did come with a QR but apparantley they were always coming loose so they started just putting bolts on them.

File comment: O.E Nitto stem. though i don't use it 'cause they are really short reach and I like overkill look of the SR doubleclamp.

That is very cool.

I have a conquest from a round 84/85, great bike to ride - or it was until I bent the forks :(

Those HALO tyres look good on it too - might get some of those for mine as there is yonks of tyre clearance :D
