i didnt think they did a 97 RTS? 26.8 sounds right for GTs of that period

I think it is 27.0 . I have a 26.8 on mine and it is not exactly right .

I have another gt rts, and that seems to take 27mm, as 26.8 was too small, but it seems the 26.8 for my later one is good - mind you ive had to expand the seat tube, cuz the prev owner have crushed it makine a 25.4 one tight in there - see http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=361560

Mine is a 1997 and it is a 26.8.

They vary with frame size! U need a micrometer guage and measure it! Only way. I've had em with everytning from 26.4 to 27.2.
