So I needed a Kona as I've read a lot about them on here and yet never ridden one. (Well I say needed one, you know how it is Retrobike/Ebay/Paypal viscious circle) I've not ridden this one yet, it's first outing will be on Saturday's NW area ride.

I bought it totally standard, it now has DX kit, XT thumbies and DX V's. The A: B: drive tyres were swapped over for the orange Wildgrippers, to match the decals.

The DMR V8's while being modern do at least match colour wise.

I though the frame size would be small but the reach seems OK, albeit with a lot of seatpost out.

It's a light bike, will have to weigh it sometime.

Nice... it was a quick blast on one of these that converted me to Konas back BITD - I wasn't a fan of their looks at that point for some bizarre reason.

I always liked the clean simplicity and sturdy look of the DX group though.

I got a Fire Mountain as soon as I could afterwards and many thousands of miles and approaching 2 decades later it's still my only mountain bike (though not an awful lot of the original setup remains!)
