Thanks guys,
Im sure there must be some history behind the "Al Carter" name, sounds like a 70's porn star. Ill put up some photos when she is finished.

I'm restoring 2 x Al Carter Black Panthers at the moment. Nice bikes not the lightest frame but great quality. Mine is DX equiped throughout. Will get some pics up at some point. Like you say its a shame you cant get any info for them :(

holy thread resurrection  !

Interesting you should revive this thread though as I can very much remember the Al-Carter bikes as being catalogue bikes in the early-ish 90's, certainly around the same time I first bought my Claud Butler as I recall seeing them on the opposite page.

I saw one of these in our local market a few weeks ago for £20 and considered buying it. Can't remember the name but it was a kind of matt grey and had 500LX on it.

Was looking it's age though, with plenty rust so gave it a miss. It was gone a couple of weeks later so wouldn't be surprised if one of the Macretro guys has it in their garage. :)

I had an Al Carter E stay, and it weighed as much as the Royal Navy fleet, it felt like it was assembled from scaffolding poles
