Built by Terry Dolan to a very high standard, this is one of the nicest made frames I own, and is probably a bit too good to be a parts bin SS, so Im saving up a grouppo and will get it resprayed over winter.

That's a real beauty - is it 753 throughout?

Can I make a plea for not respraying it, just sorting out the groupset? A scarred frame with lush components is so much cooler than a full on minter.

(nice parts bin BTW)

That's different  Not too sure that stem suits though..

Go for a respray but go for the same green & decals.

Like it.

I'm not sure about the frame tbh, it seemed much lighter than if it were 531/653 and the TD was building with 753 at the time so thats what I put on it!

I hear you about the respray, but Im concerned that the amount of paint loss + British weather = rustiness.

Parts bin? I wish my parts bin had those bits in :D

There are some stunning details on that frame, I've never heard of the frame builder but I'm still learning

Nice

Agree to leave paint as is, but agree with the uk weather issue!
Nice pics by the way! You're the banksy of MB!

Terry Dolan predominantly built road bikes, there are a lot of Cougars around as they have been made for years (although he did not build them all), but they are all excellent quality. The frame has some neat touches, everything is extremely well finished and it has an excellent spring to it. I'm lucky enough to own a number of other British built MTBs, but this one certainly shows the highest level of craftsmanship.

Maybe I'll leave the paint, but decals are easy to get (I put those ones on), and the repaint would be as like for like as possible as the metallic green has gown on me.

Very nice bike Mr. Saetan!

What do you think to the Paul Melvin? I'm thinking of investing in one so it would be good to hear what an actual owner thinks.....

Cheers
Stu

Best tensioner ever. Ok, best I have used, which includes this, the Surly one, and On One doofer, a Kore one, a 4Jeri one and something I bought for £2 from STW.

Plus its the only tensioner (that I know of) that allows you to run two rings up front, which may or may not be useful.

This may well be a slightly better SS than that Bonty (RIP - sad face etc).
