1994 Stumpjumper shed find.....

malvern newbie

Retro Newbie
Well, MY shed actually!......I can't believe it has been 17 years since I walked into Finch's of Reigate clutching £849 of my hard earned......that's right, £849 for a rigid, LX groupset bike......youngsters today and all that

It has been stored during various moves, and sat unused for about 11 years, except for a brief period of enthusiasm a few years ago when I fitted some bombers and a new stem......rode it for 10 mins and it hurt (had not ridden for all this time)...so back in the shed it went!...I oiled it up before storing, and today, on giving a good clean and service, it has come up quite well, but obviously shows signs of all the trips it has done.

In it's day, it covered 1000's of miles as I worked my way though all the Wheelwright and O.S. day books, accompanied by the missus on her Kona, The only thing left of the original is the frame, the rest being replaced time after time as things broke / wore out / were upgraded.

Full XT groupset, including very early vee brakes, venhill cables, mavic ceramics by Jeremy Duke, ceramic mech wheels etc. etc.......I used to spend a fortune on it!

Will really try this time to get on it more regularly and get some fitness back!........even found my old Poobah's, now looking for my Specialised helmet and gloves.....

Welcome back to the fold!

It's certainly cleaned up well, enjoy getting back out on it and now you've found Retrobike it will be like things never changed, you will go on spending thousands on it.

Toodelpip.

Nice bike. My favourite Specialized model.

Welcome to the site. Stay away from the for sale section ;)

Welcome to the site & an empty wallet

Love the Stumpy & thankyou for mentioning Jeremy Duke :)

Had a set of wheels built by him Bitd & went to his garden shed workshop a few times just to gawp at all the lovely hubs he had in stock

I've been trying to remember his name for ages

Thanks for all the encouragement guys.....It has been out a few times now, and I have also been getting the missus back on hers!......The spending has started as well, just shorts, new bottles and a replacement pump as it was dust inside from 10 years storage!......I also seem to have acquired a 97' GT that needs some TLC.........slippery slope as I was warned

I have tried to upload some pics I took today of her Kona, but it is saying I need to have 5 posts under my belt, so bear with me!
