Decided to get it usable today, this meant I had two hours (there's a schedule for today)

90 minutes and £0 later (all parts bin stuff) here it is:

Those Mavic rim are an up grade that not many of that bike would get

Which Mavic's are they?

Well spotted

Kudos to you sir, you have a keen eye!

They are Oxygen M6CD

So they are period, they are on XT hubs which is a bit naughty as I have sneaked some Shimano onto the bike

Although the tyres are outrageously non period, they are skinwall

But this also means it has 21 gears with 11-28 hyperglide on the back so is a lot nicer to ride

I'm running the Accushift shifter in friction mode

The sort of upgrades i also may have done if i had kept it
The problem is tyres never last if you are going to ride a bike. So more modern tyres will be fitted. So fit and enjoy. If people just make bikes to look at then take up photography. Owning mtb's is about riding off road and seeing the countryside.

Anther one i wished i kept

Happy riding.

Just out of curiosity

Gone are the Deore LX pedals

Gone are the XT hubs, 7 speed cassette and chain

Gone are the Mavic rims

Gone is the CNCd seat binder

Back are the rfelectors Suntour 6 speed block, MKS resin pedal, drop forged Kalloy
binder

Maillard hubs, Alesa rims, double walled (surprisingly)

- And back are Cheng Shin tyres!
