Well here is my latest project, a 1996 GT Backwoods 20" frame serial no.

A huge thankyou again to Gruff for going above and beyond and not only collecting from the seller but bringing it down South in one piece.

The pictures don't show all the scrapes but they also don't do justice to
the deep royal blue colour on the back. It's straight and I can't see any
cracks. I intend to tidy up the paintwork and use as my daily rider
(it's gonna be colourful).

It was originally sold in Germany from the stickers and has it's original
GT safety stickers over the paint.

Decals look genuine, flame is a decal same as the 96 Tequesta (see link above). GT and Backwoods decals are seperate and laid over the top.
Hence my thoughts they are original.

yup seen a few about with that scheme or similar in differing colours

its a GT ,it wont be cracked

get on with it then

Anyone got any tips on paint matching ?

It has numerous scrapes and scratches and a bit of corrosion
on the downtube. It really just needs a rubbed down and touched up.
Nothing I can't handle but want to get the right colour.

Anyone got a cheap spare GT derailleur hanger (think its a number 2).
Seeing the price online its gonna be cheaper to buy a whole bike/frame
to get one unless anyone has spares.

Looks much better cleaned up Jez

Also liking the home made stand/cradle :)

Taa, stand was an ill-fated 'half-hour project'.
Made myself a nice work stand, plonked the Zasker on and
it fell over ! Fine for a frame though.

Posted on auction thread as well in error !

Thought for the day - Never give up !

An idle half hour and some schoolboy German on google and I've finally
found ANOTHER one of these !!! So I was right this was the 'Blau' paintjob
from the 1996 German catalogue.

I am really liking the yellow forks (was gonna go blue), I'm going rigid on mine, luckily I haven't painted them yet.

Haven't managed to finish this one and I've just bought it's cousin (Timberline with flame job) for £2.04 (I know I couldn't let it get scrapped).
