B1 is the racing line of Batavus, and some outstanding Belgian rider used to race it. I think it was Bas De Weber or st. like that

Bas de Bever, from NL

The B1 brand was launched in ca 1996. Batavus had discovered marketing MTBs under their name was not easy, so thet came up with B1. It was positioned as younger, more wild and less traditional in the market as Batavus.

B1 were entered in international competition: worlds and worldcups XC and DH. It could very well be they were raced on the Olympics in Atlanta and Athens also. I think they were in particular successfull in downhill with people like Bas de Bever. A Dutch motorframe builder with great reputation (Nico Bakker) built the B1 DH chassis. Impressive pieces. I think that ti frame you have or a Scandium were the frames for the XC riders.

For as far as I recall Batavus discontinued B1 5 years ago or so, but a group employees took the brand over. Website: http://www.beone-bikes.nl/ The virtual catalogue is quite cool and presents some of the current riders.
