Here's one of my current projects

1997 GT Bravado

Arrived here from the Netherlands courtesy of Patrick aka Flat Lander. I wanted a good quality steel frame, looked at modern but nothing was taking my fancy. Always liked the Bravado BITD so I put out a wanted ad on here a low and behold this turned up. Thanks Patrick well happy with the frame

Frame is in really good condition, not mint as it has been used. There are a few tiny surface spots of rust just starting to appear around the BB area but you are really hard pressed to see them. I've sprayed the frame internals with some BRUNOX IX 100. You can find some here

Supposed to be really good stuff. Pretty essential for those using steel in the UK

Here's a few pics of the frame as delivered

Bit OTT you may say for a Bravado but as it so happens I've already got or have sourced all the above and will be getting busy (hopefully) over the next few days. Should turn out to be a nice quality lightweight steel ride

x2.....thanks......great looking frame by the way!....

Aaaah . . . I remember this in 'Wanted' . .

Glad it turned out well for you matey. . it looks ace!!..

One of the frames on my list for when I want to upgrade

Oh..nice..this model was my first (well second really ) MTB.

I bought a 96/7 Karakoram..which turned out to have an ovalised headtube..causing the headset cups to keep coming loose.

GT kindly furnished me with a replacement Bravado for my pain.

Been looking for one the same for a while....stick me down for possible ownership when you are done ... :)

I know that frame.Very few miles ( or Km) on that one.
You say a 68mm BB. Just measure it. I thought it was 73mm. My karakoram is...And i'm 99% certain they were the same frames on that year.Just different stickers.......

73mm it is

Here's a couple more pics

Hadley hub on a 217 rim for the rear (thanks Chris  )

Still waiting for the saddle and matching front wheel to arrive and then I'll stick some pics of the full build on. Here's a little taster of the seatpost

Here's the build standing

It's not finished yet !!!!

The Crossmax's and white tyres are only temp, although they are starting to grow on me  Still waiting on the front wheel :(

I've sourced a 9 speed XTR cassette for the rear and will probably end up going for a M95* series chainset.
