Raleigh Activator

Hi guys - i've just stumbled on this site and love it - i've just got back into MTB's after too long - i've got an old Raleigh Activator in the shed thats still in fairly original nick - i used it a lot when it was new and at the time i thought it was great.
I've just picked up a GT agressor and a Carrera Vulcan - both in as new condition so i'll have fun with them. They make the old Raleigh seem like a piece of crap but what the heck!
Just have to start pimping now

ah the good ol' Activator. Bringing 'suspension' to the masses.

brings back memories and playing fields, cigarettes and cider.

Car stereos for goalposts... see the aspirational 80s weren't all bad. Car stereos were weighty enough to hold down the Sergio Tacchini or Fila trackie tops.

Who were probably brought up by people who grew up in the 80s... do try to keep up, 007 ;-)

pics will follow - also have a diamondback ascent, i think its 1989 but not 100% sure - someone can confirm when i post pics. i've also picked up an old claude butler but cant remember the model and have another raleigh mtb - i've also got an Edinburgh Bicycles Revolution Cuillin frame which is in the process of stripping for paint just now - it always amazes me what people throw away!
My son has a good selection of BMX's and i picked up a specialised P1 frame for him last week for pennies - he's getting the bug now and has staretd to sell BMX's to his school pals.

i've finally got around to takin some pics -

My Activator - I think it was bought around 92 and still going despite having been stolen and recovered - shame the suspension was crap.

Claude Butler Miura rescued from a bin - a bit scruffy but just needs a good service.

DB Ascent - another bin rescue! - i've got the bars in the shed - the paint is bad so not sure which way to proceed - I think this is an 89 model but not sure so any info appreciated.

Ridgeback Omega - yet another bin survivor

Carrera Vulcan - a fairly bargainous purchase which with some half decent forks and a few bits and bobs will be ideal for my 11yr old

GT Agressor Three - in almost brand new condition. Just fitted the Marzocci's, front disc, some tyres i had lying in the shed and some DMR V12's cos i've got big feet! - Once i find a rear disc wheel i'll get the caliper fitted as it's in the shed.

and finally - the junkyard - i'm so glad to have found a website where others suffer the same affliction

Welcome!

That DB Ascent is a bit lovely, brings back memories of ads when I first started reading MTB mags.

LGF, you've got some competition.

Quite an impressive haul!

I don't know whether to put discs on my Avalanche like you have... Or just replace the whole thing.
