Afternoon All,
Been beavering away with a Saracen build for a while now and have run out of steam :-( Needing inspiration but just not getting it so far :?
Build is as pictured below - Its going to be a light one
I need to bleed the front brake and have some silver Middleburn's waiting to go on.
Not happy with the stem and bars and the seatpost needs stripping and polishing oh and its flite adding
Supposedly a mid 90's frame so trying to keep the build bits within a year or so of 1996.
There is talk that these were built by Saracen for A N Other customer but never actually built. The "S" on the end of the TT has been filled with braze.
The closest match I have been able to find to the frame are these:
It would tally with some of the numbers on the BB
What are your thoughts?
***UPDATE***
Well after turning up at another RB meet on a modern bike I thought it best to get a move on with this
Been gathering a few parts for this and still a fair way to go.
Bike needs properly setting up still so things need fettling but you get the idea.
The fork is a big stumbling block to to the tall HT - I need a 235mm steerer as a minimum so whilst nowhere near correct the Salsa will be on the bike until a suitable replacement is found.
New pics >>
Only just noticed that the world cup stripes on the headset watch the frame stripes
If I like the ride I may consider a respray but the paint is pretty good and will only get hammered (hopefully) over winter
Whilst not specifically looking to do a "light" bike I am supprised how little this set up weighs
***UPDATE*** 10/12/2010
Well the bike is finished - For now
Bike weighs more than I thought it would do - The XT chainset is a beast
A few pics ahead of its maiden voyage - Apologies for poor focusing!
