I was after a steel bike, and when this frame came up for sale it fitted the bill nicely - having seen Woody's awesome Yeti Ultimate on here recently in similar colours made up my mind and I put in an offer and got it, well eventually but there's a whole other thread on that!

This frame has had a build thread before, Scant (edit - see thread below) has done a most excellant job of renovating the frame the powder coat is very well done indeed.

Anyhow enough rambling - the build is period(ish) correct for early 90's and I've tried to keep to Yeti things such as a Turbo Saddle and Hyperlights, (there's some Ringle skewers on the way soon). The rest is Suntour XC Pro/XC Comp, (with the exception of the headset which is XT), for no other reason than its my favourite stuff, and its a bit different on a Yeti.

We have a baby arriving any time now so this is my last retro build for a while, I hope I''ve done the bike justice as it looked great in its previous incarnation.

:D

powder coating was done by castle coatings in caerphilly. forks were resprayed by a local car body shop.

Thanks for the info - did you get it done?

I think yellow bars would look very sweet on that.

Yes - that was the plan but like buses none come along when you want them - but as it's worked out the silver bars go well with the rims/post/cranks etc I think
