from what i see out on rides, long travel forks, disc upfront and risers seem ideal and much preferred for all terrain.

a great mixture of retro bikes 'tweaked' to do a better job.
 
Yes

I agree. The forks are 100mm travel but I'm going to reduce travel to 80mm to re-align the geometry a little better. I refrained from fitting a rear disc brake and went with the v-brake. Some think I should put a Magura HS33 hydraulic on the rear?

depends on what you want out of a rear brake, i use 80% front so dont tend to use to rear much.
 
Rides ok

Rides ok although I think it needs an 0rise 80mm stem to quicken the steering and lower the geometry along with the 10mm fork drop - or maybe just one of the two?

Hotrod done well, like it :cool:

Before you invest in a new stem, why not try the spacers on top, so the stem sits lower?
