This is one of maybe a few dozen built in 1991 the first and only year that GT offered a "Cyclone". The 1991 Catalog doesn't even call out a name for this frame...it just says True Temper Chromoly frame on the frame page of the catalog. In 1992 GT changed the name to Psyclone the year they introduced the Groove Tube top tube. I grabbed this frame a couple weeks back full well knowing that they don't come up very often. The frame is fillet brazed True Temper AVR with 1-1/8" head tube and 73mm BB and it's actually deep blue pearl metallic in color and only pops when in a bright sun. Everything on it was on the shelves or hanging around here at home. Many of the parts are items I bought NOS knowing that I would use them on upcoming builds. I heavily debated whether to go threadless or not and whether or not to go with M900 XTR parts. Since it's a 1991 frame I went with XT and will probably find a silver chromoly threadless stem for it at some point just so it's more period correct.

Dunno what it is about GT's but I really like them.. can't wait to get cracking on my '98 Avalanche frame..

Loving this Cyclone.. maybe one day I'll get to own a high-end early GT

Beautiful GT!
Love the logos on the cranks and bars.
I did think it was supposed to be a Psyclone until I clicked on the link and read further.

nice bike :D - bet the paint looks great in the sunshine.

Got to be one of the must have GTs :?:
