You'll be able to date the frame and fork by looking for their stamped numbers, should be somewhere on the underside of the rear dropouts and rear of the fork dropouts.

Then there's a guide on the following blog as to how to decipher the numbers:

Thanks Mate.

My frame is from 1990. B(K)ATxxx
The stamped Number of my fork is not listet on the blog. Its PT1EE.

Re:

So maybe not the original fork then. PT could stand for Prototype perhaps.

You could try a PM to mkozaczek who is the author of the second spin cycles blog and a member on here, below is one of the threads he started to research the Klein frame numbers:

Oh, I didn't notice that before. So you think the frame is a 90's Modell and the fork is younger? I cant say anything about the frameset history.
It’s a 1990 frame and what looks like a very early ‘91 fork as it’s a ‘Box crown’ fork, most of the ‘91 forks are ‘UniKlein’ forks with a curved crown.

Good link that. Thanks for posting.
Mine's a BAT frame number, so good to find out more about year specifics. Will start a thread on my own Team USA when I'm ready.

One of the all time greats (for me anyway!) Good luck with progress.

Cheers.

Thanks guys.

Is it possible that the pre owner bought the frame in 1990 in order to ride it with a Suspension fork and bought the Klein fork later? Or wasnt it possible to buy bouth separately?

It’s possible I guess as there was one suspension fork available, the Rock Shox RS-1 was released in 1990 but highly unlikely, Kleins were generally sold as a ‘fuselage’ (frameset). I’m not sure that Rock Shox sold the RS-1 with the oversized headset that the Klein frame has though.

Just a quick intermediate status. :)

Nothing new. I'm waiting for some parts like Chill Pills Cable hanger. And I ordered some aluminium and titanium screws cause i want to kick out all rusted steel screws :)

Finished :)

I'm very happy with my first Klein. Here some pictures from my first little trip

I hope you like it :)

I have to say that I am very surprised by the weight of the bike.

Maybe I can find a way to bring the bike to 9,xx kg.
