Project P7! Loft find! Completed!!!!

Re: Project P7! Loft find! Update 090220

Oh... new FSA 1 inch ahead headset fitted... sealed bearings and alloy cups so just that touch of improvement over the original.

Re:

With an hour or two spare I got to rebuild the front wheel.

Wire wool and soap and water brought the rims, hubs and spokes up a treat!

From the lack of any wear on the cones this bike has had a very very charmed life.
The grease had gone off and thickened from lack of use so didn’t take much to have this back to new!

Hopefully get the rear done tomorrow so I can ride it soon !

Oooo... shiny shiny!!!

Re:

Hubs rebuild with new bearings. There was no wear at all to the cones or bearings but guessed a fresh bearing change was worth it whilst I was in there.

Rolled outside as rain stopped for a snap in daylight....

New BB fitted too whilst I was on.

Slow progress cos of family and work but getting there..

I have a full set of period XT V brakes, rear mech and 4 arm chainset lying about but deliberating to just stay stock with the full matching STX rc groupo...

Seatpost sticking right up as I just chucked it on for the pic .. haha

This I reckon. It's come this far together.

Re:

Last post above replied to.

No the crudcatcher will be staying with the bike as the bottle bosses on bottom of downtube were designed for this mud guard so will stay where it was intended.

Hoping to make more progress before the weekend...

Thanks

Re:

Original tyres cleaned up and Cif brought and a scrubbing brush brought sidewalls up a treat!

Lightweight tubes fitted and a shiny new 11-32T SRAM cassette to make it even more rideable with better ratio.

Looking like a bike again!

Think this is one of my favourite builds so far...

Almost there!
