Klein Build

Re:

Well it’s been a couple months since I last updated the thread, but the bike is now finished! I’ve done nearly 400 miles on it. It feels so great with the wider bars! It is a very capable bike! I’ve had it airborne a couple of times and it’s great! And I raced it about two months ago. Deffo racing her for a full season next year. I had to swap out the rear brake cable yesterday as it had frayed badly and I took the time to install some esi grips, however other than that, it’s staying pretty much as is, but I’m going to swap the chain ring for a 36 tooth as when I’m riding in the road I’m always in bottom two gears!

Pics to follow.

Re:

So, the bikes done about 750 miles now, honestly it feels very nice, the geometry is great for a bit of fun and doing miles of xc.

I recently installed some magura brakes Wich I got from James, they are very trick. Retro kooka levers, carbon braces. They feel so much better than what was on there.

The chain cassette and ring are in the way out so I’ll be swapping that out. I’m replacing the slx shifter to an xtr shifter as the hose clamp is bugging me, I’m looking for the 30mm z-series seal kits for the fork. Or failing that a new fork (looming for a black rockshox Sid)

Nice to see this as I have just picked up one of these frames aswell. 1998 orange, so same as yours.

I know it's not a "pure" Klein to the aficionados as its not pre-Trek. But I love my frame and for the money you cant go wrong – IMO.

I've just started building mine and cant wait to finish it and take it out.

Cheers. It’s a very nice bike. You can build them to suit your needs very easily. Send some pictures when it’s done mate

Re:

So, now that I’ve finished my isolation period, today I went out to get the new suspension. Toby found it for me on Facebook, and it was a smashing deal

It’s a pace rc36 evo 2 and I got the grease gun to go with it.

It’s got slightly more travel then the old fork. However the main reason I went for it is because i can set it up how I want and I can get parts for it way easier. I’m just waiting for the dropper post to be done then the klein will be finally finished!
