Hi all,

Just finished rebuilding this vintage 1993 Kona Kilauea (american version).
It's a fast, agile and fun ride.

Don't know yet if I'll be keeping it but, damn, I'm still impressed by this bike!

If anyone is interested, please let me know. It would imply shipping from Montréal, QC so it means that one has to be really interested.

Complete specs to follow...

Re:

Congratulations - that really is a fantastic build and one of best builds to my eyes, that I've seen on RB for a very long time. Love the fact it's mounted with NOS Supershifter Pro chainrings, with XT/ DX combo and original layback post. And that colour! Never seen one like that.

What parts have you added? The fork & stem look original deals and paint - I'm guessing they were together with the frame, when bought judging but it's condition.

Lovely lovely lovely..! :D :!:

What he said  .

The colour was called Porsche Red in the U.S. catalogue for the 1993 Kilauea.

It was also list as available in Titanium colour (as were all of the other painted models). I think the Titanium colour that is listed is the same as the front end of the two tone fade versions available in the U.K. - I recently saw a 1993 Cinder Cone finished in the Titanium U.S. colour..... but that single Porsche Red colour looks stunning!

Interesting facts as usual Pip.

Strange how they called it Porsche Red, more a burgandy/wine colour i would say. The 2tone '93 then is Porsche Red and Titanium, i think the '94 is the same colour Titanium as the '93 front end.

Re:

Thank you Mark, yeah I reckon you're correct - the two tone fade colours on the '93 U.K. version do indeed look like the same colours as the North American separate options of either Porsche Red or Titanium.

The U.K. (European?) catalogues for '93 & '94 do not list the colours on the Spec pages for any of the bikes, but I agree that the '94 Kilauea looks like the same Titanium colour.
