1996 Claud Butler Cape Wrath 653 (The Blue one)

Re: Mountain Mayhem 653 stablemate for the Antaeus

And here it is, without the big fat couch and the rusty pedals.
I’ve put on some decent Tioga Factory’s (should be Pyscho II) on it, and a proper clean/service. Now waiting for a retro style but modern Tioga saddle and a pair of NOS Tioga surefoot 31 pedals that are on their way.
I’m going to keep an eye out for a descent Deore LX FC-M563 or M569 crankset and I’m thinking of swapping out the forks for some Marzocchi XC700’s and some HS33 brakes as I love them so much on the Antaeus. ;)

I can help out with the XC700 as I have a box full of silver ones ;-)

Spoke protector alert triggered.

Re:

Ah but a poorly adjusted rear mech without said plastic disc protector for the spokes could result in the rear wheel being. .... Kaput ! leading to Peachy shouting out the Anglo Saxon expression “shizenhousen”

Never used them before, and never wanted to until last month, riding the Anteaus down hill in some rough stuff. changed gear, threw the chain into the spokes and ripped the arse out of 16 stainless steel spokes.... they (the protectors) will be coming off after MM

Re:

Lovely pair of new-ish Tioga sure foot 31’s arrived today and are on, tick.
