1992 Claud Butler Antaeus 653 Magnum FINISHED

Re: Claud Butler Antaeus 653 - 3 times a lady

Came out real sweet .... looking forward to seeing the real deal in June at our swaray

Regarding the Magura - I notice you’ve only fitted a single arch at the rear of the pistons which helps prevent frame flex - however I believe you should also have one one the front to stop the bosses flexing, effectively sandwiching the Magura’s

Looks tidier without them but under braking the flex could render the brakes to lower league GS200 cantilever status

Could be wrong but Evo II was a serious attempt to stop frame flex due to the power of hydraulics and intended to be used with four brake boosters (2 front and 2 back)
The newer black front boosters are far more elegant than the old ones and a lot less in your face with a similar design to the rear but with a nice curve to follow the same arch as the hose line

Lastly WTF is that front QR doing on the drive side

Looks really good young man, well worth the effort. Just needs trail dust now :)

Cheers for the advise on the Magura’s as I said before, this is all virgin territory for me. :?
As for the front QR…….  I wasn’t sure who would spot it first but my money would have been on you! Just taken a bunch of extra photos to make a ‘final post’ then spotted it myself…. I will swap it over, promise…. :D

Re: Claud Butler Antaeus 653 - 3 times a lady

I think it looks great,

just concerned your first experience with Magura’s set up like that will leave you feeling underwhelmed in the stopping department and wondering what folk BITD saw in them

As for the QR - I couldn’t resist a bit of joshing with yah
