Not so many CR7 on RB...
It’s a really cool bike :D

Trying my best to change that :) Thanks.

Great bikes. The blue one has the edge for me. It looks Ace.

Always liked the look of the CR-7 - never ridden one though but it's one of those that have been on the want list for sometime.
This one's been on eBay watch list for a bit now. It always seems to have price fluctuation though! :? .... almost like the seller has been told to put it on eBay but doesn't really want to sell! - I nearly hit the BIN back in June when the price was about £70 cheaper.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks. You should buy that one and scratch the itch...

The Violet has always been my favourite CR-7 colour and is now affectionately going to be known as - violet "O" violet :)

The plan is for this to be built with a lot of stock Fisher parts and components and a small black theme - brake callipers, post, stem, bar with XT, although using some cut down M900 levers that were in the parts bin.

Re:

This bike will be known as Black Betty… Despite only having a matt black frame with a few love bites.

Having purchased this bike from the USA back in 2013 it arrived disassembled in Nov 2013. Already having a smaller black CR-7 I wanted to build one in a better size. Being largely broken down when I received it to make shipping less painful at the time it has sat patiently waiting for time to assemble. With a 1st gen? black and pink Rockshock a crazy Ventura Comp Ti seat complete with silver stars and blue glitter and a mix of 732, 735 and LX components, Kalloy seat post, ATAC stem and Fisher Ti bar.

I wanted to it be rigid and sourced this Aluminium fork which has now been mated with a black Fisher Evolution headset which isn’t as smooth as I would like (WTB Black Fisher branded Evolution headset). I love the ATAC stem and Fisher Ti bar and thanks to an excellent friend now have a NOS Ringle Moby Deuce silver post to mount.

The part black XC Pro group set went to another build viewtopic.php?f=6&t=258629&start=30
violet “O” violet turned up and going through the parts bin and rethinking what would go to different projects the direction dawned on me.

After my HK-II viewtopic.php?f=6&t=143697&start=40 was stolen for the third time I purchased a 93 Extreme Attitude viewtopic.php?f=6&t=385555&start=10 with a full M900 group. This set my fantasy of one day hanging the XTR on a better frame which I never did after that one was also stolen!

So with the addition of a mint silver post to Black Betty the direction for this build will be XTR based mostly on parts in the shed and for filling that 1993 desire to have a good fat Aluminium frame with M900 / XTR.

Pre build pic’s to show the frame and fork below.

After last nights update it dawned on me that I hadn't ridden this gem!

1988 Fisher CR-7, made in Japan with 1inch headset, U brake, RM20's and Suntour XCD group in original survivor condition.

Stunning day today so thought a good time for a test ride.

Never seen "Factory Pilot" before, does this mean original owner may have been a sponsored rider?

20220306_142351.jpg

Interestingly it doesn't actually call out CR-7 anywhere like the next generation bikes did.

20220306_142445.jpg

20220306_130116.jpg

It rode nice, very stiff transferring the ground below when not smooth. Fun bike.

The beach was packed!
