The bike shop near the Corn Exchange back then was Freewheel wasn't it?

Freewheel...Yes that was it!!! I cannot remember what make of bikes they got but I remember being flabbergasted that they cost £300 each but was smitten from then on (with the bikes.. Not Pete & Clive!!)

Used to love the Freewheel catalogue. From memory they had Ridgeback, Klein, Kestrel (spelling?), Moulten, maybe Alpinestars? Pretty sure there's some scans kicking around on here.

All I can remember about the bikes was one was all yellow and one was an all turquoise green. Rigid (obviously) , both similar models

Just been down memory lane. Had a look at the 1989 Freewheel catalogue scans in the archive section and found the yellow bike. It was a Ridgeback 601. The price was
£259 so my memory isn'the failing me. I imagine the turquoise green bike was the same model. Thanks for jogging my memory to my distant youth.

I need some advice re the seatpost. The saddle is sorted but the only 31.4 Ritchey seatpost I can find is a new one and as you can see below it's a bit gaudy (and too mat to be retro). I was considering spraying it gloss black and getting Gil to make me a period correct Ritchey decal..what do you think
