Dirt Disciple
Amazing Craigslist find of a lifetime - picked this beauty up today for $45 - totally stock (aside from the saddle) 1991 GT Karakoram in the awesome red inferno paint scheme. Probably only ridden a few times, as the original Megabite tires still have the manufacturer nubs, not a scratch on the GT toe clips, minimal rim sidewall wear, not a scratch to be found on the paint or decals, minimal paint fading, and the only rust to be found is on the bottle bolts. After a degrease/clean, it looks almost new & much better with a new saddle. Will get a thorough tear down, polish, & detailing back to it's original glory. This was my dream bike back in high school, with plenty of drooling looking at the ads in Mountainbike Action. Sadly, too small for me & have no room anyway, but will be an absolute joy to detail & restore this baby up. Will eventually plan to sell it (hopefully to a good home to be used/appreciated), but can't wait to see the finished product. Sorry for the less-than-stellar phone pics, but will get some proper hi-res images once it's finished :)

Re:

See this is why messing with bikes in general is so awesome. If you collect cars, you (very occasionally) can find some pretty low milage, cherished ones, but everyone drives a car so the market is huge and the buyers are many. If you collect guitars, you can find those bedroom-use 1957 Stratocasters, but you will need to re-mortgage your house to buy one.

Is there another hobby where you can buy your teenage-dream for less than a good meal at a restaurant? Not only that, but an immaculate, un-ridden version of that dream?!

It's lovely.
