Hi Guys,

I’ve recently picked up a 1996 Kona Kilauea frame
(so the 19-inch 1995 Kona CinderCone May be Up for sale soon)

Can anyone tell me which bottom bracket I should get for the Kilauea?

I think a UN72 68mm is a reasonable option.....but can anybody tell me what spindle length I require?

The cranks are currently XT737, but might get swapped to Sugino Impel 700 or Mighty 900 at a later date if they’re considered an upgrade?

Is the UN72 considered the right option at that price-point, or are there better options?

Thanks

Re:

You get one you can if buying new.
(Probably UN-55 unless you can find a nice Ti bottom bracket or some other high end one)

Frame is 68mm

M737 is 107 for that frame

Sugino tend to be 110/113 in the super low profile.

My BB-UN71 turned up today.

Both the left and right threaded sections are fitted to the BB and don't seem to want to come off.
The BB is in perfect condition so I know it's me that's doing something wrong.

Do I remove the left and/or right threaded section on the UN71, and how do do I go about doing it?

Thanks

EDIT:

The left-hand-side ring is a press fit, it's not threaded, so it just pops off.
Mine was just a bit tight and needed tapping off with a rubber mallet
