This is a pretty cool one ...

Its a real early Mountain Goat made by Jeff Lindsay. He began making MTBs in 1981 and he didn't make a ton. This is #12 so its likely one of the first few dozen he made.

Unfortunately no fork or bar stem combo :| Anyone have one?

The backup plan is to do a sort of Cali themed build with all high end early 80s left coast bits.

will you be restoring?

Yeah. Down to the bare metal and back again. Same colour though. Its a super dark metallic grey fade (almost black). I'll have someone match the original livery as best they can.

Basically a Deluxe, but I think its a bit earlier than the first bikes Mtn Goat called a Deluxe.

 ooo i like that, would like to see a pic of the whole frame too :)

The shaped tube reminds me of Colnago frames, do you know what steel it is?

Very nice

Re:

Very cool! I have the Goat brochures from the 80’s so will have a look at tubing etc. Think Jeff used tandem tubing for certain tubes.

Re:

Also loggin on for this. Love these really early bikes. FAT used tandem tubes on the early Box crown forks too.
