1989-90 Merlin Titanium

Re:

I'd love to see a pic. The threaded BB is very interesting. I have never seen a sub 3000 frame with that.

I have often wondered if they was just a pile of stamped dropouts in those early years and they just grabbed a set from the bin ... a la bontrager.

This is a pic from this evening's ride.

I was told when I bought it that it was an '89 or '90, so I built it with parts from that approximate era.

Maybe Merlin did pre-stamp dropouts and use them randomly. I heard that Yeti did similar with BB shells for Ultimates, so I don't know what year my Ultimate is either.

Re:

So nice

Its gotta be some sort of random dropout draw. They used the same dropouts on the early road bikes as well so its probably all a wash.

Re:

All done. This one came out really well and I found a great place for pics.

It will be ridden as is ... with some used pedals of course ;)

Shifts smooth as heaven! Having some trouble with the cranks. Catenary runs at 51mm minimum with these cranks. If i'm going closer, the chainrings rubbing on the frame. We'll see about that, maybe some CQP steel or other cranks on it. But not CBR!
