1984 S&G by Araya "Muddy City"

Re: Early '80s S&G by Araya "Muddy City"

This is very similar to what I started out with in 1986 except I was spoilt by bullmoose bars and no chain guard. Mine ended up with a load of Suntour XCE.

Looking forward to seeing how this progresses. I have an S&G that was rescued by Chris on here, newer
parts on it with original paint and fire damage. Its a bit too big for me but I love it.

 wish i'd kept it

Its not for sale, but if you want it back you can when you come down to the Gates.

Just updating as you do...

Frame is off to a local powder coaters I'm afraid - can't live with the state of that chainstay, and it won't clean up much.

Stripping it all down it's noticable just how good the quality is of the parts fitted - for instance the single ring alloy sugino crankset which is pretty light, and nicely designed and 5 bolt holes on a clinched chainring - which I'm not sure if this was intended for bashguard or extra chainring... Never seen anything quite like that, it's "different".

Either could rebuild them now or perhaps convert them to a salt and pepper set.

Re:

Finished a while back, but as I moved house and had a lot of things going on in life - I thought I'd post some photos of the bike now. I went with the collective wisdom of retrobike and kept the bike very much original, just a bit of a clean up new paint and decals from the ever excelent Gil, it now gets occasionally commuted to work - often is the subject of amusement for my other cyclist co-workers
