Apologies for the delayed response and many thanks for all the great feedback and I’ll probably take you up on your offer Chris. I’m a good 90 miles away but near enough to be educated.

Pics below are the bad parts of the bike that need a little tic over the coming months but couldn’t agree more that after a service etc I want to be out on it.

Do it yourself mate. You have the skills and you will find it very rewarding. The only thing you need to know as far as bike specific engineering is the left pedal and right bottom bracket are left hand thread. Apart from that and not forgetting to lock cone nuts together it's just unbolt, clean, grease, put back, set up. Ride, enjoy, buy another bike and another then run out of room. Then buy another for a crank you like for another project and have no idea what to do with the rest and repeat. Good luck.

You posted the pics while I was writing the above. I can see your problem it's not as mint as it looked in the first pics but I would suggest still stripping it myself as all the components should come up fine with a polish but the frame will need a respray to be mint again. Personally I'm more of an it's only original once kind of guy and would try a touch up in places but it never comes out perfect. If as you say you want it mint then it's the only way. And the rims will be a pain.

Re:

It defo is not as mint as the particularly hostile seller led me to believe...still a nice bike though. Are you going to reply to my pm brian?! :)

Yeah, its amazing what a few close up shots can reveal. Loving that rare peg nose saddle though :D

Re:

After a lot thinking I’ve decided to move this bike on to someone who can do it justice. I personally feel with the little use it’s had it deserves to be fully restored and I’m not the man at this stage to do this. So if anyone fancies this then give me a shout.

Re:

Shame, looks like it would've been a good project to start you off as there's heehaw needing done on this one.

If you want to sell something on here best to start a new thread in the "MTB for Sale" section and you need to set a price for it as this is not an auction site like eBay (the Mod's will lock or delete a sale thread with no prices).
