1994 Kona Fire Mountain restoration project.

Collected another piece of the jigsaw today, 732 XT hubs built into NOS Araya RM-400 Pro XC rims with DT double butted spokes. Far from the most exotic build, I know, but I'm very happy with them.

I've just boxed the bike up ahead of next week's house move, so thought I'd post an update as I've not done one in a while.

Parts still to come are:

Saddle (have a Kona Race Lite for temporary use)
Tyres (just bought a pair of Splashbacks from TheHistoryMan for temporary use)
Grips (have the pictured Bontrager lock-ons for temporary use)
Rim tapes
Gear cables
Chain
Ti bolts for all threaded bosses on frame

So, very nearly there. I should have hopefully have this bike up and running within days of our removals catching up with us.

I recently got given a 93 FM frame a friend pulled out of the skip at Hobbiton... Apparently hobbits don't like Fire Mountain's because of dragons and shite.
Didn't have wheels but most other stuff was ok.

Anyway, after a rummage in the parts bin I put her back together...

After looking at yours I'm wondering about a full restoration.... And so it starts

Great to see them being rescued. :D

Hi redzephyr, it's just about 'there' but the bike is currently bubble-wrapped to death in a box in a warehouse, awaiting shipping out to Gibraltar with the rest of our removals. I'm missing a couple of sundry items (chain, cables and rim tape) and I still need to source the saddle, tyres and grips that I want, although I do have others I can use in the meantime to make it rideable.

I've also embarked on another project, building up a 14" '98 Hahanna for Mrs Wife!
