Which way you coming down? Thrunton is on an unclassified road just off the A697, about 7 miles SE of Alnwick.

Dr's directions
From Edinburgh I'd take the A68 at Dalkeith then onto the A697 through Coldstream and Wooler (watch for cameras on the Scottish side of the border) for a nice quiet scenic amble.

Once through Wooler you will have a turn to the left for Alnwick and New Bewick but continue straight on the A697

After Powburn (petrol and snacks on left) you will see a sign for Thrunton Village on your right, ignore this and continue a mile or so.

Keep an eye out for the woods on the hillside to your right and a brick works down in the dip. Road steadily climbs for half a mile then there is a sweeping left over crest with a phone mast on the outside of the apex- turning for Thrunton woods is hairpin right behind mast (be carefull- its a nasty little junction). If you get to the Rothbury/Alnwick cross-roads you have gone too far!!

Follow this narrow lane a mile or so down the hill, over the little humped bridge and back up the side ofthe hill for another 3/4 of a mile. Car park is on your left.

Clear as mud

here they are Kaiser again

Will PM you guys my mobile number, keep me posted on your progress south and ETA. Don't want to be hanging about in the woods on my own when Gimplord is on the prowl

Chaps

Twas a good morning out and good to meet more NE and MacRetro members.

Kaiser, good pic of me but u didn't quite catch my look of fear as I contemplated having another Mabie moment at that point.
Can you pm a bigger copy of the pic; the lads in work don't believe that I was actually doing something sporty on a weekend - something abt all the gear, no idea.

Gazz, the brakes are No.1 priority to get sorted after the re-spray but I'm kinda liking the fear factor they provide.

Once again, great meet and will c u all again soon.

Dr S, soz abt the injury dude. Amazing how easy these things happen!

Bye bye

Rhys
