Thetford Trail Investment

Retro Newbie
The Forestry Commission have just given the green light for two kilometres of the worst areas of the Red Route to be surfaced so as to improve the usability of the route in inclement weather.

Cutting a very long story short this is the culmination of nearly 3 years hard work by TIMBER the trail building group at Thetford working with the FC to improve facilities for MTB.

The work is scheduled to start shortly, and a fair bit of the Red Route will be closed during and for a period after the work is carried out. It is very important that riders stay off the surface until it has bedded in, as use prior to then will dramatically shorten its lifespan.

So if you are over at Thetford and see trail closed signs PLEASE respect them, its in all of our long term interests.

Cheers

Thanks for the info. We last rode there at the end of January, parts of the red route had diversions (which we did follow).

Thetford has always been a great example of a locale benefitting from fewer visitors, in environmental terms. Great news about the new funding though.
