Great event, been running many years and a sizeable RB contingent last year.

Choice is of 50km or 100km routes, mix of quiet roads and off road (balance is definitely to the latter) and you can decide on the day which you prefer. These may help: http://www.tracklogs.co.uk/cgi-bin/publ ... ute&id=173 , http://www.tracklogs.co.uk/cgi-bin/publ ... ute&id=229 , http://www.tracklogs.co.uk/cgi-bin/publ ... ute&id=228 , http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/HO ... Long-Route . Get that early season fitness!

Anyway, 5th April 2009, entries now open at http://www.honc.org.uk/ (I've just done it and am 74 so might want to act fast!).

Update: I understand it's now full, pretty impressive to get 1,100 enties in five days!

Current entries that I know of are:
daj
Heathy
Russell
Sinnett177
Chris
stevek
Hilts
Mr and Mrs Wu
Me
Gump + 1
CAS
Mr Kawazaki

What sort of pace is this event? Is the 50K route doable by anyone with a bit of training?

The event attracts all sorts and you need to be fit but by no means super fit. I reckon the 50km route is definitely doable with a bit of training and as the whole thing is a big loop around Winchcombe and you are given a map you can always cut back if the weather is bad, a mechanical strikes or you're knackered.

Thanks. It sounded like it was a good event, but I've just realised I have a wedding to attend on the Saturday so I'll not be able to make a ride on the Sunday.
