Does anybody know when the 2017 edition of the Retro Ronde will be taking place. There is no dates shown on their web site just a reference to facebook. I ike to book accommodation well in advance as it does get busy.

Sadly, there will be no Retroronde in 2017. Not sure exactly why, they announced it on Facebook in December, but with non explanation. I think last year's was the 10th edition and maybe they just wanted a break from organising it.

They do promise they will organise a new edition in 2018.

There are a few smaller vintage events in Belgium, including La Savoureuse in August.

Thanks RG, I did see the organisers note about 2018 afterwards. Just seeing the early races over there on Eurosport gives me the urge to go ride those cobbles. I'll check out La Savoureuse and thanks for the lead.

If you're itching to ride the cobbles, this is a good event:

http://www.superklassieker.be/3/Home

You start in Oudenaarde, and in the long (200km) version you end up in Roubaix, then ride back along the riverside to Oudenaarde again.

It includes most of the cobbled climbs from the Ronde, and a couple of secteurs from Paris-Roubaix.

I did the 200 a few years ago and it was great, a lot calmer (and cheaper!) than the official Ronde Van Vlaanderen cyclo route. You actually get to ride up the hills instead of stepping off because of the crowds.

Apologies if there's already a thread on this, I took a quick look and didn't see one ...

The Retro Ronde returns this year, next weekend June 9-10. The event website is here:

http://www.sport.be/retroronde/2018/en/

and the routes here:

http://www.sport.be/retroronde/2018/dow ... rcours.pdf

Rides of 40, 75, 100 and 160K are offered, with staggered start times. Registration is still open.

I'll be riding with a few others from Brussels and the surrounding area. If you're riding then why not check in on this thread and we can try to meet up!

Cheers,
Gareth.
