The Retrobike National MTB Event Series 2013

Round 7: Forest of Dean

:: Date: Saturday 12th October 2013
:: Time: 10am for a 10:30am start.
:: Meeting at: Speculation Car Park. This is just past Pedalabikeaway trail centre http://goo.gl/maps/lhdCX about 300 metres to the north.

:: Terrain: The Final round of the Retrobike National Series will treat you to about 20 miles of the sweetest natural singletrack you will find in the UK.

:: NO HELMET, NO RIDE

Image

:: Route: Will mainly consist of local singletrack riding off the beaten track and none of this trail centre business. We will head off with a longer morning session under the guidance of our very own Forest of Dean Guides. There will of course be a break for a pub lunch before a shorter loop in the afternoon.

PLEASE NOTE*

Due to the nature of the terrain and not intending on losing anyone we will be splitting into groups. Therefore it is vital that everyone who is coming makes their intentions known so we can be organized for your arrival.
PLEASE SIGN UP ON THIS THREAD.

:: Directions: The post codes can be a little off for the forest so here is a detailed link to the trail centre ( GL16 7EH) http://www.pedalabikeaway.co.uk/findus.html . Speculation car park is 300 metres further North on same road. http://goo.gl/maps/lhdCX . The car park FREE! (unlike the trail centre parking)

:: Accommodation: Plenty of options which include a bunkhouse that will sleep up to 32 people within 5 mins of the car park: --> http://www.fountaininnandlodge.co.uk
Camping options also available: --> http://www.campingintheforest.co.uk/eng ... st-of-dean

:: Pub Lunch: Due to the expected numbers we can pre-book the pub lunch to help things run more smoothly.
A menu will be posted up on this thread and then requests can be sent to daj who will let put in a pre order with the pub.
More details to follow on this, so keep on eye on this thread.

Right, I'm in! Although after the peaks I feel it only fair to pre warn the organisers/adjudicaters that I will be bringing something with a spring on at least 1 end! (And stabilisers for anyone who saw me come to a dead stop and not clip out in the gravel trap!!)

Thinking about it, the shoulder is still not right from the peaks ride, I have taught the Marin a lesson by removing it's suspension and turning into a single speed, it was all the bikes fault, nothing to do with me riding like an idiot

Anyone up for car sharing from West Yorkshire?

I don't think the East Yorks lot will be there, we could buy a bike for the cost of the drive there and back :lol:

Though i'll see if the misses want a weekend trip.
