The Retrobike RetroRoadRide Series 2013

Round 3: Church End Brewery Ride ~ Warwickshire

file.php

:: Date: Saturday 8th June 2013

:: Meeting at: 10am for a 10:30am start - Church End Brewery, Ridge Lane, Warwickshire, CV10 0RD

:: Contact Number : 01827 713 080 - Karl aka grumpycommuter

You are cordially invited to a jaunt around some leafy bits of Warwickshire and Leicestershire. The pace will be steady and the banter friendly. Both routes (for indeed there is a choice of two) will be a mixture of country lanes, potholes, hedges and numerous villages. There will a few sections of B roads that we will follow or cross in order to link everything together, but will be kept to a minimum.

:: Routes: The first route will be 30 to 35 miles long with a pub stop at around the 25 mile mark at The George and Dragon, Stoke Golding. The pace will be steady, that of a gentleman around town.
The second route will be approximately 55 miles long with a stop at the same pub at the 35 mile mark. The pace for this one may be a touch brisker than the first but all abilities will be accommodated.

:: Terrain : Rolling hillocks, country lanes, trees, a cattle grid and a few B roads joining it all together.

:: Suggested gearing : None

"There are no hills in Warwickshire can be attributed to weather beaten roadie I once met and he was right! So no specialist equipment required."

On our return, the brewery / bar will be open and the 'Retrobike' beer will be once again available.

Anyone wishing to camp on the brewery garden is more than welcome, just let Karl/Grumpycommuter know in this thread or via pm. The brewery will also be open for a sneaky peek if anyone is that way inclined. Oh...and there is a shower which can be used if required.

Some of the villages which we will pass through - Arley, Maxstoke, Shawbury, Shustoke, Hurley, Atherstone, Warton, Stoke Golding, Upton, Market Bosworth, Barton in the Beans and many more

If you fancy it, get signed up.

[Note that points will be awarded across the Road Series].

:: NO HELMET, NO RIDE

Oh yes !!! Might be up for camping too if the weather is good and others are :cool:

All details and routes are courtesy of Karl at the brewery. I am but a messenger.

I shall also be there though with a bike and a tent...

Good point. I'll check with Karl.

I assume it'll be the usual 10am meet for a 10:30am start.

EDIT: Now confirmed.
