Three Tribes "Mass Trespass" ~ Peaks ~ AFTERMATH

With only eleven riders this year we eventually leave the cars for the first climb, this , an old roman road is a relentless way to start a ride with about three miles of mixed terrain and the odd lung being coughed up we are soon at the top,

A quick stop to catch our breathes and twenty questions with the local six inch no lid squad we set off for the sweet descent down to the roych

Climbing out of the roych we soon hit traffic with horse, rambler and greenlaners (motorbikes)
its a race to the next gate and the next and the next eventually we are held back by nature, a hail storm, its that bad theres eleven retroriders hiding like sheep behind a wall, once passed its onward to rushup edge and with a quick photo session on rushup glacier,

IMAG2218.jpg

And some nice uphill singletrack we are on the last leg round to Chapel gate when we are struck with this bog,

And now with some wet feet its time for Chapel descent,

With some of the biggest grins I have seen for a while its time to eat so over to Edale to the cafe, an hour or so later its time for hell that is Jacobs ladder.
We leave the cafe for a couple of miles of lovely country lane untill we come to Lee Farm,
and then it changes over to a stoney track,

IMAG2233.jpg

You can make out the climb in the distance, its the wall line at 45degrees

Leading eventually to the start of the steep climb, the old packhorse bridge.

Its up the left flank that is the bridalway past the old pub its steep,

From near the top,

A very happy marctwotone arrives at the top,

IMAG2244.jpg

its not the top yet sorry:LOL:

IMAG2245.jpg

IMAG2246.jpg

Now at the real top we rest eagerly waiting to start the last descent, with over three miles of rocky hell off we go, I think I took ten years off my wrists going down this and when I eventually got to the bottom my palms were flat where I had held on that tight, no hanging loose today then, with one casualty and no brake pads we re-group at the bottom,

IMAG2249.jpg

SLMRacing's rear pads, wow.

IMAG2247.jpg

With lots of stories of death defying riding and Videojetmans tyre sidewall looking like a string vest we sett off once more for another descent, but this is a secret treat for only the NWtribe know its location ;)
nearly home now,

One last stop at the quarry where it all started eighty years ago for a group photo and back down the road to Hayfield village and back to the start.
A big thanks for making this into a smooth relaxed day out I really enjoyed it, and I hope we can do this ride again soon for all those who could'nt make this day.
I hope your ok Rich I didn't realise untill later how hard you had come off,
I think if there was a bikeoftheride it would have to be the Klein, a well riden show of history,
cheers,
Lee.

that was a really good ride, but very testing for me and the bike.
pretty tough with no suspension & cantilever brakes.
but a good experience, and a good bunch of lads.
only down side for me is one wrecked dart tyre, the side wall has given in.
thanks for a good ride today. hope to see some of you in long mynd.

i took some photo's of the bikes, i'm pretty sure i got them all.
apologies if i missed any. and sorry for the poor quality, i was using a camera phone.

Thanks for a great ride, I enjoyed every bit, even the hail. Even falling off and getting the forks twisted round so much that the bar end got rammed behind the top tube and gouged loads of paint off my almost pristine Kawasaki. I realise I've got a cracked rib now and the chest clasp on my rucksack is smashed, so that must have been the bike landing on top of me.

Like all peaks rides we got all kinds of weather and Jacobs Ladder is awesome in an impossible kind of way.* I think it sums up everything about Peaks rides for me, fantastic views, big height gain and technical stuff that isn't just restricted to the descents. Fast draining as well so not a complete mud-fest either, although most of Jacob's Ladder looked like a dried up river bed. Wouldn't have been able to manage almost any of the climbs if I hadn't put on bar ends at the last minute and it's not often I'd use a thing like that.

Thanks again, great ride, great company and hope to see you all at the Skipton ride on May 13th.

Really gutted to have missed this even more so as work was so quiet I really didn't need to be there

Looking forward to lots more pics and if anyone fancies a rerun this summer its on my to do list.

A proper ride indeed - I could feel it getting up for work at half four this morning :x

I may have mentioned it yesterday, but I still can't comprehend how anyone can have cleaned that climb! I was pleased with getting up Rushup...

Fantastic day on a bike, thanks!

A special thanks to mrlee for the route guide. I am still amazed at the sheer
beauty of this area and the cycling routes on offer, the stoney singletrack is out of this world and not without a challenge but, enjoyable with concentration. Even the occasional push and carry was rewarded with terrific descent for your efforts!

Nice to see you all and good on you for getting round. must go back soon.

What a great day out a proper old style mountain bike ride plenty of hills, carrying bikes up then riding rocky descents down sqeaking brakes, grinding rims, complaining gears, riders complaining about aches and pains, rain, hail, wind, some sun and clear views of the fantastic scenery and an overall feeling of achievment. Thanks must go to mr Lee for a fantastic route and to the great bunch of lads who turned up and made it such a great day. Thats one of the best days out on a mountain bike ive had for a long time, brought back some great memories cant wait for the next one and all on a bike that stands me at £250? What more can you say
