A couple from the evening do...

The three winners of the quiz with their spoils.

And Starsky and Hutch of course. (or any other 80's cop coupling you'd like to think of instead...)

:D

Hi guys - great weekend hey?

Loved every minute, even the big climbs which 'opened' my lungs! Specials thanks again to MrK for wonderful organisation and pictures (was I going to fast for the action shots?), to Gus for generally making me laugh all weekend, to BigEd for not killing and eating me on MamTor (after our chaingang road effort), and to JV for taking all the punctures for the group. Oh and to MrsK for the lift home

Warning to all: Don't ever have a crash in front of Gus. He will not show any concern when he arrives on the scene - just laugh his head off!

Monday memories:

> Big Ed arriving at my house with 2 of the largest pork pies I've seen - and he expected me to ride with one of them in my backpack...
> The nuclear glow on Gonzalez's tyres
> The sodding mists covering up some of the most spectacular views in England
> Who's idea was it to cram Kev into a Michelin man Yeti skinsuit? Hilarious!
> The amount of people having to go for a piss after the first (road) uphill - flooding was reported in the valley...
> Jez's Viagra-enhanced riding - must have been the shirt?
> The new old-school Mountain Goat - spawning an idea for the first 'R-bike' frameset! Watch this space...
> Shaking my head in disblief everytime Tony sped by on those ridiculous tyres
> Watching the downhill skills of the pack as they hurried to the cafe - some notable exceptions...
> Taking bets on James and Tony's spill count
> Egg, chips and beans mid-ride - heaven in grease!
> Watching the faces of riders on modern bikes as our historic cavalcade pottered by
> Observing the new recruits' delight in finding like-minded souls do exist!
> Downhilling without leaving my bike behind - no thanks to the Guvnor, mind...
> The FSR put through it's first real test - and passing!
> Learning that grey tyres don't do greasy rocks
> Ed taking the lost boys the harder way home on the road - that's special forces folk for ya!
> Having our own LBS mechanic security blanket
> The early ride Amsterdam ladies discussion driving Heathy to resort to tapping up local sheep (must have been an economy drive)...
> James' 'this Kona is a c**t' outburst as his jockey wheel disappeared into the mists...
> The long smooth road downhill back to the pub - buttock bliss!
> Pints of Wainright and cider soaked up like blotting paper
> The farcical Retrobike pub quiz - Tony's vacant and bemused stare... the mystery-object-in-a-bag feeling taking on erotic-undertones (especially the Bassworm)...Gunn Rita Dahle scoring no points...
> Sunday morning - Jez's car boot sales doing brisk business...

> Overall - a great turnout - respect to those driving far (in Gus's case extra-far...get a SatNav you turnip!) and risking great bikes in real terrain - more charming, eccentric and amusing folk you could not wish to find!

If your reading this and you haven't done a Retrobike ride yet - buy our '08 calendar and make sure you're at the next one! If you're thinking about organising a ride in your area - do it! We'll be there...
