The Retrobike Rides Monthly Newsletter - April 2011

As the weather picks up so does the riding. April might not have a national round but it certainly isn’t lacking in riding. This weekend just gone has seen many a RetroBiker taking on the spectacular Hell Of The North Cotswolds 50km and 100km routes in our RetroBike Special event.

In additional to HoNC there are many locally arranged rides to join in with. Please scroll down this newsletter to check what’s happening in your area.

Retrobike Rides have now been going strong for many years. They have evolved from a couple of dodgy looking characters meeting in the woods to ride their retro pride and joys to groups of up to 40 enthusiasts meeting up to enjoy their bikes, company and trails.
In doing so a friendly atmosphere has been created and good riding manners developed, giving Retrobike Rides unique qualities and banter. As always with Retrobike Rides, everyone is welcome and made to feel welcome.
All abilities are catered for with the rule being we only get round as fast as the slowest person, with short cuts and chicken runs being planned into the routes.

If this appeals to you, please come and join in at one of our National or Local events.

March:
Trips to the Welsh Clwydian Hills and Hayfield in the High Peak resulted in two brilliant retro rides once more in March. The dry and spring-like weather rendered dusty trails and perfect riding conditions. However some of MrK's off piste sections did mean having one's shins exfoliated by gorse.

April:
There are two more rides for your consideration and participation in March. First up is a visit to the sweet singletrack of Penmachno scheduled near to the start of the month, and then a cross area collaboration to look forward at the end. The NWA will set off from Edale for our part of the fantastic Three Tribes ride in the heart of the Peak District.

As always, come and say hello on the North West England & North Wales area section.

We are having another meet at Thetford with a bit more notice this time. 10th April usual time and place. See here for more details.
Thursday night Chicksands rides have resumed after a very long winter break. See the ride thread for the latest details. Looking forward to hot summer evenings down the woods.
Looking further ahead we have a very special event planned for July 24th. Mark the gate, sorry, date on your calendar and keep it open.

Some of us have had quite a busy month in the SW area! i think as the weather has been pretty good alot of people have been out on there bikes! Which is awesome! The main meet we had was at Haldon near Exeter, new trails for some of us and here is the aftermath thread: --> http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=141986

April:
Coming up in the Devon area is a non Retrobike ride but some members are doing, as far as I am aware it is the only ride organised in our area for April.

Also a few of us ventured East to meet up at The Green Rabbit's Arundel ride, which turned out to be great ride, was good to meet some knew faces and ride somewhere close but new. See the SE section for an aftermath thread though, wouldn't want to steal their thunder!
