Jan 15 1993 GT Team Avalanche

This bike marked the end of an era at GT. The 1993 GT Team Avalanche was the last GT complete steel bike sold with XTR components. By 1993 the industry was changing fast with nearly half the bike offerings about 400 retail having aluminum frames and most major lines having a titanium model or two...steel was pushed aside. In 1993 GT did not have an Avalanche model they instead had an Avalanche AL and the Team Avalanche was their top steel offering. TIG pulse welded in the US out of True Temper tubing and sold with a Bologna Lite chromoly fork or Mag 21 Rock Shox option. Complete XTR except the headset. 93 was also the year that Shimano finally brought out a Low-profile canti that wouldn't interfere with a riders heal so GT switched their entire line to canti's in the rear except the 14.5" size. Cockpit made up of a GT Alloy flip flop stem, GT Alloy Bar, GT Krayton grips, Tioga alloy aheadset and the Shimano M900 XTR RapidFire Plus shifters. Wheels with Mavic M231 rims laced to XTR hubs with 15/15/15 DB stainless steel spokes and alloy nipples. Covered with Panracers Dart/Smoke combo Wrapped up in a great looking Blue Imron paint.
