Wow tuff night with a just arrived 93 Zaskar LE in the shop stand. A 14.5" for the girlfriend. Time out quick for today's post. 1991 GT Avalanche in Daktari White. One of the favorites of many among the GT special paints from the early 90's. The Avalanche was the Shimano Deore DX/XT mix equipped bike in the GT line in 1991 and it featured a MIJ Tange Prestige frame with internally routed rear brake cable and GT 2x4 fork. I picked this one up about three years back and it had a mix of lesser parts on it and was missing the original paint to match stem. I have the correct spec on just not the right color. I did a couple extra XT updates too. Riding on Ritchey Vantage Comp rims w/Deore DX Hubs.

Sold a number of these back in my retail days and it was always a bike that drew lots of attention on the stand. The color was so well received that GT used a negative version of it on the 92 Tequesta and the same color on the 92 Timberline. Like many companies back in those days if you had something that was well received on a higher end model you'd take that success down the line in a following year.
