In Arctic Snow Storm the 1989 GT Avalanche. One of GT's special paint colors. One of my favorite bikes when I was a retail store manager. This bike had great spec for the money and we sold a bunch of them in 89 and 90 as we bought some left overs. These have a sweet Toyo built Tange Prestige frame complete with internally routed rear brake cables. Full Shimano Deore II 7 speed top mount group complete with BioPace chainrings, SLR brakes and HyperGlide cassette and chain, woohoo!. Ah yes, those were the days!....Araya RM-20's the standard by which other rims were measured. Were there other rims? 1989 was the last year that the higher end GT's had 1" headsets. Bigger things were to come.

Oh and don't forget the Tioga Farmer John Cousin in the front and the Farmer John in the rear. Remember those bomb proof Tioga Prestige II chromoly handlebars. Never broke bars back in those days. Gotta love those specs...32H rims for 16 and 18", 36H for 20 and 22". Guess they figured all the big guys had a fat ass back in those days :D
