I bought this as a restoration project but it's a little on the large side for me (I'm 6' 2").
I bought this from a German guy in Melbourne. He'd bought it used in San Francisco - then relocated to Germany - and eventually emigrated to Australia.
Tyres aside it's completely original. The drivetrain is Sakae/Shimano, the brakes are Lee-Chi, the rims are Araya, and the saddle is branded Marin. It even has the original Marin branded aluminium pannier rack.
The metallic blue paint is in good condition for it's age but would benefit from a bit of restorer and polish. The components are dull from neglect, but will polish up nicely. And it would benefit from the hubs and bearings repacked.
Marin began producing bikes in 1986, so this is a very early example of the brand and would be a lovely restoration project, and fun to ride.
I'm asking what I paid for it: $100 to a good home.
