Mike Mullett 55cm Reynolds 531C

Vetus Ossa

Retro Guru
Having recently sold my Shorter here, I have decided to part with another of my classic bikes that I am now unable to ride, my Mike Mullett.
I built this one a few years ago and to be honest even then I knew it was going to be very limited in the use it would get, I built it because I wanted to, those with a similar passion will understand.
Mike Mullett was Gerald O’Donovan’s right hand man at Raleigh's Specialist Bicycle Division, Ilkeston and later went on to build fabulous frames under his own banner. They are quite rare and collectable now.
The frame is labelled as being built with Reynolds 531C tubing but seems amazingly light to me and weighs 19.2lbs on my bathroom scales, some 2lbs lighter than my similarly equipped Reynolds 753 bike, though that does have a Brooks saddle, but I still think its light, you can just tell by picking it up.
It’s in stunning condition as most of my bikes are, as I said bikes are a passion and I like to look after them. There are no dents or rust and the stem and seatpost move freely.
I see little point in listing the components as anyone interested will be able to see for themselves, but will say it’s all Campag.
I have to mention the wheels as they are so nice (and light) they are Campag s/f hubs on Super Champion Medaille D Or rims and from memory are 28/32 spoked and are shod with practically unused tubs.
I have posted a couple of pictures here but better quality ones can be emailed to anyone interested.
Looking for £950.

Re: Mike Mullett 55cm

Delightful!

Is that 55cm c-t or c-c? And what are the top tube c-c, and OLN measurements?

Cheers. And lovely to see a bike from this perfectionist builder. Surely not "quite" but "very" rare!

Hello hd
I’m pleased to read your comments, it is an exceptional bike of its type and surprised to be honest it hasn’t generated more interest, but glad at least that you like it.
For your and anyone else’s interest watching, the seat tube measures 55cm c/t, the top tube 55cm c/c and the oln is currently set at 120mm for a 5 speed freewheel.

Re: Mike Mullett 55cm

Thanks for the measurements. Not quite right for me but GLWS. It should please the right person immensely! It may be so rare that few are actively searching for these, even if they've heard/read good things about them. I for one gave up looking for Stan Pike bikes for that reason...
