Mercian (King)

Soggy

Retro Newbie
I have been told that someone on here would appreciate my Dads Bike. Its a Mercian (King) It would be very sad to see it go but its just sitting in the Garage and has been for a few years now. Its in good condition and all works but it would need new tyres and tubes. My Dad used it a lot before he passed away. (did 70 miles on his 70th Birthday)
I would like it to go to someone who would appreciate it.
Let me know if your interested (thinking around £385.00)

I had a quick look this morning in the dark but couldn't see a frame number. where would it be located? I know nothing about bikes sorry.

Re:

Hi Gareth, the number is on the underside of the bottom bracket, it's a five digit number stamped in. The bottom bracket is the tube that holds the pedal axle in place at the bottom of the frame. It would also be useful if you could give approximate sizes, or tell people how tall your dear old dad was!

Good luck with the sale, sorry it's having to go.

Andy.

Ok it is a 21inch frame. (Dad was 5 foot five inch) but I can not see a frame number anywhere. not sure what to think about that.?

If it's not on the bottom bracket shell, it could be on the outside of the left rear dropout (where the axle of the rear wheel meets the frame). On my old Mercian the serial number was stamped there and on the steerer tube of the fork.

just an update. frame number is 60875 and its a 21 inch frame. It is on Ebay so will sell this week.

Re:

Hi

How long did your dad own it for? A lot of the components are newer than the frame; I don't suppose there's a box of old bike parts in his garage?
