Trek OCLV 5200 1993 £400 ** NOW SOLD

Ski78

Retro Newbie
Due to a complete lack of use and (the cost of) my forthcoming wedding I've decided to part with my 1993 Trek OCLV road bike.
I've owned the bike for the last 15 years and it's main use was as a training bike during the time I was an MTB racer.
It was built from an old road bike I had, and parts replaced as they wore out, so it's a bit of a mish mash of components, but all parts are high spec with some gems that I thought would be appreciated on this forum.
Frame: Trek OCLV 5200 56cm (centre to top) some scratches and chips but generally in very good condition.
Fork: Trek OCLV, matching the frame.
Bars and stem: Cinnelli criterium
Headset: Specialized, I think it was called 'Direct Drive' but could be wrong, alloy with steel races
Brake Levers: Dura-ace (non STI)
Calipers: 105
Downtube shifters: 105
Front Mech: Ultegra
Chainset: Ultegra
Rear Mech:Dura-ace
Seat & Post: Ritchey seatpost with a Selle Italia Flite titanium (very little use)
Front Wheel: Royce hub, this is around 20 years old and on original bearings, the smoothness of the bearings has to be felt, it's stunning. My favourite part of the bike. It's radially laced with bladed spokes to a Mavic aero Tub' rim!
Rear Wheel: 105 hub to Mavic clincher rim, 7 speed cassette.

I have allot more high res' photo's, please get in touch here if you are interested. I'd post the bike, but I'd rather have a face to face deal here in Edinburgh if possible, it makes things easier for both parties.
Hopefully it's priced to sell, it's hard to value these older bikes, feel free to let me know your thoughts.

Thanks.

Re: Trek OCLV 5200 1993 £450

Looks like a beautiful bike in good condition. While I'm not buying, I just wanted to mention that it looks sweet. I have a 1997 Trek OCLV5200 so I can vouch for them being a sweet ride. I use mine for Audax cycling but used to race on it.

Hopefully someone buys it for you :)

I rarely find carbon pretty but this is absolutely gorgeous - the webbing/dropouts/seat stays are just spot on. Such a great build too (that front wheel had me drooling!)

Great price for such a nice bike, wish I was in the market for a new racer! Hope the sale goes well amigo

That´s awesomeness on a stick! would love it, but alas it´s just a tad too big.

Thanks for the comments guys, It is a stunning bike, it's as pretty now as it was when it first came out. Far too nice to linger in the shed where it has been for the last few months.

When it does sell I do hope the new owner will use it well, I've got some good memories and pictures of having this bike in the south of Spain, it's totally at home in the mountains.

Lovely bike - my top tip amend the title of the thread to reflect the price drop.

Forget the wedding and keep the bike, it will really be cheaper in the long term!
