carpentarri history lesson

hi i am looking for an old bike to restore , and it is my size . could you please tell me a bit more about the bike please.

oh er what part of italy they were made . period they were made . any links to famous riders .geometry . notoriety any usefull books i could read up on that kind of jazz really you know founders of the firm etc

Carpentari today is a bike business in Torbole , Italy which I can just about make out on the decal:
http://carpentari.com/it/benvenuto/

Whether they had their own frame shop or bought in frames from a larger builder I don't know, but give the existing company a mail?
The group set is Campag triomphe cranks, derailleurs with modolo brakes ( a fairly typical mix...)

good point are:
plain solid paint finish ( as opposed to metallic or fade finishes ) so very easy to restore without losing decals ( very expensive to remake )
Forks cost about £50 to re-chrome and I would be happier with a wheel rebuild on those spokes! If you don't have wheel building skills but are ok with paint / polish / servicing then the project should come out around 350-400 quid allowing for new tubs. :)

ps there's a pant quill stem on italian ebay :)
