Approx 165mm

Currently has a leaky Shock Works.

Spring not necessary as I can re-use the existing one. I would like an adjustable damper though.

Unless its an air shock you may have?

I might have the same problem soon, got a 2001 marin alpine trail with a shock works coil (seems ok at the moment). bought a 2nd hand x fusion 02 off here and it has a lot of ramp up whatever the rebound or pressure. so maybe coil works better for the marin. not sure

You're probably right if its some longer travel bike. I just saying from the 98 bike we have around here (and my mnt vision) which I think is a cross country bike.

I don't know the Marin's very well, you were riding them bitd not me.

Edit, just looked t your other posts, this the B17?
Bikepedia says 6" monster travel rear, the others where 4".
