Just a disc and bolts please!

Anyone have a spare brake disc & bolts? I also need the two bolts that bolt the caliper on - or are they standard M8 or something?

Also, being a disc brake n00b, although it's a front brake will it fit 160mm or 180mm? Surely the different diameter requires different mounts, no?

Great thanks - and do you understand the 160/180 mm thing? Are all front brakes 180 unless there's an adapter or something?

you get the mounts according to the disc size, the mount is the bit that the caliper bolts to which inturn then bolts to the forks. most modern calipers are either post mount (where the mounting bolts m6 are bolted into the ends of the mount/fork or IS mount where they are bolted into the sides of the mount/fork.
most mounts will have a size on them reffering to the disc size they will accomodate.
thats about as much as I know.

regarding disc sizes, as a general rule you can run up to 203mm on the front with the correct mount and the same on the back. running a large disc on the back can foul the stays so you need to measure first but inless you have an odd hub/fork combo up front (like older hope) you can run pretty much any size you want. 180 is the norm I think but a lot of people go for 203 for the extra stopping power/bling factor.
also superstar components are selling a lot of their floating rotors off cheap to clear them
http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/product_ ... cts_id=455 for the rotors

Aha, ok gotcha thanks for the explanation, and those links

In that case the mount on my forks says 160-180 so I guess that means it requires a 180mm rotor?

yea 180 front 160 rear. standard issue brakes. just to be clear if you use that mount on the front you need a 180 and if you took the mount off the front and used it on the rear a its a 160.
